Meet Philippe Marchal Video: Link
Philippe Marchal Biography:
I’m Philippe Marchal, candidate for East Amwell Township Committee. As a Township Committeeman, I want to represent the views of all our residents, nearly half of whom have been locked out of having a voice by an all-Republican Township Committee that marches in lockstep with our Mayor and displays arrogance to Township residents and businesses who express independent views.
I’m running because I strongly believe that our Township is better served and makes better decisions through moderation, civility and respect of differing views.
I’ve always enjoyed a rural lifestyle, and East Amwell being close to two major cities, prompted my wife, Lili, and me to move here in 2008. I was born in Belgium, moved to the United States 36 years ago and became a US citizen. I’ve worked with people from many cultures and points of view.
My career began in the electrical power industry after I received a PhD in mechanical engineering from Brussels University, where I also received an undergraduate degree in mechanical and electrical engineering. In 1989, I started a business in educational software and ran that business for 20 years, when it was acquired by a major publisher. Since then, I’ve been a vice president of Software Development for Pearson Education, retiring to a consulting position in 2014.
My experience at a large corporation and running my own business, prepares me for the challenges of planning, budgeting, finance and -- most important -- working with people from all backgrounds and with all kinds of opinions.
